SAVE - Wm. J Mills & Co. Canvas Bag - $153

My dad has been in desperate need of an acceptable substitute to the blue and black Nike gym bag he carries to and fro work every day. Littered with files, notes, and gym clothes, the thing was a complete mess and made him look like the before shot in a GQ style page. As a result, I recently bought him a black leather Tumi briefcase. If you didn't know, Tumi doesn't come cheap. Although it looks great, he still complains that it is too nice to throw all of his gym clothes in and shove in a locker at the Equinox. That's where this Wm. J Mills & Co. Canvas bag will come in.

This stylish canvas model is roomy and durable, but not too precious that one would feel akward slinging it over their shoulder on the way to the free weights. It also doubles as an excellent weekend bag in case you were wondering, and at $153, hardly requires the deliberation that the Tumi's price tag demanded. Save.

SPLURGE - MAKR CARRY GOODS Ruck Sack - $160

Backpacks are a difficult item to buy. Granted, I am still a student, so this look isn't that hard to pull of for me, but I very much respect the plight of the American man that doesn't have the confidence to wear a man purse (that confidence, my friends, is usually instilled in only the most European of us), but still needs a place to put his belongings when he ventures out of the house. No, we aren't talking camping trips with this model, but if your the outdoorsy type, just do yourself a favor and get a North Face.

This Ruck Sack by MAKR CARR GOODS is, according to the comments beneath it, quite durable. It's also the perfect size for your magazines, books, and iPads for those lucky few that have one. Made of canvas and leather with a limited edition of 50 models per color (it comes in black, brown, and white), this pack is definitely worth the $160. Splurge.

SAVE - Jack Spade Sale

This is just a quick picture I snapped of my very own Jack Spade bag I bought last year at their summer sale. While they decided to discontinue this specific model after customer feedback suggested it was too big (myself, I think it's the perfect size), there is a similar version, along with a host of other bags, small leather goods, accessories, and ready-to-wear at deep discounts in both their Soho and West Village locations. Make sure to check it out this weekend while you're enjoying the wonderfully cool weather. Save.

SAVE - The Herschel Supply Co. Backpack - $55

I just ordered this bad boy from Need Supple Co. the other day and it just arrived. In addition to its space, durability, and style, this backpack is also full of functional details like an interior iPod pocket with a hole for the headphones, a leather handle, and a large front pocket. And at $55, it's a no-brainer. Save.

Best Accessories - Milan - Spring 2011

The men's collections in Milan have turned out a variety of accessories for spring 2011. Let's start with the footwear. I used to believe whole-heartedly that mandals were the biggest style offense, and now I am eating my words. Both Gucci and Bottega Veneta have successfully re-interpresented the fashion faux pas to create mandals that I could see working as easily with a summer suit as a bathing suit. Prada also produced a fancy pair of footwear in the form of lace-up wing tips with platforms. Though they will probably be expensive, and probably not entirely wearable, that doesn't stop them from looking great on the runway.



Large man-bags are also in for spring 2011. Whether it's a large woven tote at Bottega Veneta, or a large leather carryall at D&G, the Italians sure know how to make a great bag. Definitely worth the investment for these carefully constructed and timeless products.



Designer sunglasses are crazy expensive so I would suggest waiting until the styles trickle down to lower priced lines (becuase at the end of the day, they are all made the same way with the same materials), but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy a sneak peak at what we'll all be wearing on the beach come 2011.


Off the runway, Tommy Ton at GQ visited the showrooms in Milan to scope out the hottest accessories. Tod's turned out, as always, amazing sneakers and driving shoes in every color of the rainbow. In addition to footwear, they also produced great woven leather bracelets in different color combinations. Though I'm not into man jewelery myself, these bracelets look surprisingly masculine.



Ally Capellino produced some amazing bags for spring 2011. Known for her durable construction and quiet branding, Capellino created a collection of beautifully timeless pieces in a variety of different shapes, sizes, and colors.
